The 3rd Wednesday of each month until further notice has been decided to be our Monthly Board Meeting days. Lion Tailtwister Steve Rehmann was going to fine Lion Randy, $1.00, his 2 cents worth for those 50 years, but instead fined the entire present membership a $1.00 each in order for Lion Randy to take Betty out for an ice cream or something special. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Again Lion IPP Randy and Betty

Lion 3rd VP Larry Juncker checked with the local print shop on the cost of having New T-Shirts made for the club. Lion Larry contacted Andrea Burns, Lions Clubs International, Brand and Creative Department Manager to make certain that we could have our own items printed or if they needed to be purchased from Lions. She responded that the proposed logo is OK however, she had to forward my question to Sarah Gryniewicz, Lions Clubs International, Licensing & Promotions Coordinator // E-Commerce & Consumer Products in the Club Supplies Division to give us approval to have club T-Shirts printed. Sarah replied back with the following:
Dear Lion Larry,
Use of the emblem on apparel for club members is actually covered by the Lions Clubs International Trademark Policies (Found in Chapter XV of the LCI Board Policy Manual):
For all apparel items excluding vests, Lions members and districts are automatically granted permission and license to use, purchase, sell, manufacture or distribute items bearing the association trademarks when the total number of each individual item does not exceed thirty (30) in one fiscal year, and clubs are automatically granted permission and license to use, purchase, sell, manufacture or distribute items bearing the association trademarks when the total number of each individual item does not exceed thirty (30) or a total of one (1) per club member, whichever is greater, in one fiscal year.
Based on the above information, if your club needs no more than 1 shirt per club member (or 30, whichever is greater) per year, you may have them produced locally without obtaining further authorization from Lions Clubs International. If your club needs more than this, you would submit the attached form to obtain one-time authorization for emblem use on items or quantities not covered by the Trademark Policies.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

NO SPECIAL PROGRAM THIS WEEK
Special Guest Speaker this week
Steve Hergenreiter - Fort Dodge Fire Chief
Presented information about where the department has come in the past 2 years since his last visit to our meeting.
Ambulance service is working out well at the department with two new units coming this year, one being a smaller more fuel effiient unit to be used for stabilized patient transports to other hospitals. The department drove more than 100,000 miles the past year alone in inter hospital transports.
Construction of Phase 2 on the Fire Station renovation has been completed while Phase 3 (Addition of offices and conference room) has been placed on hold due to the extremely high cost of construction materials right now. Covid has taken it's toll in many areas and ways. Re-bidding on the project is hoped to be looked at again later this year, if prices start coming down.
He ask all of us to give a Special THANK YOU to Kari Prescott, Director, and her team at Webster County Health Department for their tireless efforts during the Covid 19 Pandemic in our area.

Definition of Jeremiad
: a prolonged lamentation or complaint
also : a cautionary or angry harangue (word for another day...lol)
urbane (adjective)
ur·bane | \ ˌər-ˈbān
Definition of Urbane
: notably polite or polished in manner
Use of Jeremiad and Urbane in a sentence.....
The Lions Club Tailtwister, although a gentlemanly and URBANE 'pep master' at his club meetings, is part JEREMIAD and part cheer leader.

WHO ARE LIONS?
Lions are groups of service-minded men and women who are interested in improving their communities. To be a Lion is to be an active volunteer, a member of a respected international organization, a leader in the community and a friend to people in need.
The 1.4 million members that serve in over 45,000 clubs from over 200 countries make Lions Clubs International the worlds largest service club organization.
WHAT DO LIONS DO? Lions move to make a difference locally and globally. Lions are best known for their efforts to eradicate preventable blindness, but also participate in many other kinds of projects, including assisting those in need, sponsoring international exchanges for young people, providing supplies to victims of natural disatsters and bringing clean drinking water to remote villages.
Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller and communities get better.
WHY JOIN A LIONS CLUB?
As a Lion, you will have the opportunity to help others, meet new people and use your talents to make a real impact. You will acquire new skills, meet challenges head-on, cultivate lasting friendships, grow personally and have fun at the same time.
KNOW SOMEONE WHO CAN ANSWER YES TO THE FOLLOWING?
I'm ready to help.
Lions help where help is needed - in their own communities and around the world - with unmatched integrity and dedication.
I'm adventurous.
When it comes to meeting challenges, the Lions response is simple: WE SERVE.
I'm a leader.
Lions Clubs International develops leaders. Lions leaders serve at every level of the organization and oversee everything from local membership to the organization's international direction.
I'm making a difference.
Lions see despair turned to hope when they impact the lives of the less fortunate, the hungry and sick, the homeless and abandoned.
Volunteering makes you feel appreciated and needed. It provides an opportunity to give back what has been given to you.
If you answered “YES” to the above questions, then click on Membership_Application here, help them fill out the Application and bring them and the application with you to one of our meetings on Wednesday at noon, so they can start making a difference!
